The Hummingbird Effect
May 14th 2019
Nobel prize nominate, Greta Thunberg said:
“I want you to panic. And then, I want you to act as if you would in a crisis. I want you to act, as if your home was on fire”.
These words reminded us of an old native American Indian’s legend: “the hummingbird effect”.
At such a tipping point in our history, in Brussels, at the crossroad of decisions that will shape the EU and the world of tomorrow, we believe in individuals’ power, freedom and capability to have an impact on their surrounding. We believe in the responsibility of each and everyone to act in the scope of a more sustainable outcome and become drivers for change.
For it’s 6th edition, TEDxULB will gather the leaders, experts, entrepreneurs and artists that empower today’s social and environmental revolutions.
This year, TEDxULB won’t be about hope, it will be about actions.
No one is too small to carry one drop.
What is TEDxULB all about ?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
Our event is called TEDxULB, where x = independently organized TED event and where ULB = Université Libre de Bruxelles. At our TEDxULB event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
